After finally coming out of my post-grad shell and seeing what’s out there in the working world, I found out about, and subsequently signed registered for, Barcamp DC. Barcamps are un-conferences, a concept where, instead of attendees shelling out a ton of cash to listen to a few highly paid people at a conference organized by a couple people, everyone helps out a little bit, as seen by the wiki page.
So, as my way of participating, I’m presenting. I could probably talk about PHP, CSS, Java, MySQL, graphic design… but I can almost guarantee everyone else there knows the same amount or more than me of the topic :-). So I’ll talk about something I know a little bit about… the Facebook platform. I have some experience, having created an application myself, and hope that I’ll be able to impart some knowledge, and maybe get a discussion about it! Of course, should anyone else know anything about it, and plan to be there, for heaven’s sake, tell me! Drop me a line at skeevis AT skeevis DOT com.
I hope this will be a great chance to meet some other like-minded people, and hopefully the right people to work with me to achieve my goals. See you there!
