“True friends are not mirrors where we can always see ourselves reflected in a positive light.” – Shannon L. Alder

It’s interesting to watch the meteoric rise of social media over the past ~15 years, serve as witness to the negative consequences of society’s intoxication with the current instances, and stand here in 2019 at the precipice of a potentially major transformation. The coming years can play out in many ways.

Are we doomed to live with the present day model of being fed “sugar and fat” by the major players and new iterations on the same distraction?

Will “regulation” somehow yield improvements, or be as mediocre a solution as a surgeon warning’s sticker on a pack of cigarettes?

Or will something better rise up?

This October marks eight years since the founding of Contactually. Eight years of tackling the same idea – that our best selves – business, professional, personal – come from surrounding ourselves with deep relationships. Sure, technology let’s you create a wider and wider surface area – but our most successful customers continually found depth was both the strategy and benefit.

I’ve found myself driven more and more to seek depth of relationships – and to uncover how to best represent that in our digital world. Attend a 7:47 Club Dinner, Mastermind Talks, Sol’s Cookie Off, Ben/Charles’ Off The Record breakfasts, or one I host from time to time, and you’ll see what I mean.

To be continued.
